App generator terms and conditions
These terms cover the free Bayton app generators at gen.bayton.org, and set out what you may and may not do with them.
Last updated: 27 August 2026
These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of the free app generators made available at gen.bayton.org (together, the "Generators"), provided by BAYTON ("BAYTON", "we", "us", or "our"), a community project published at bayton.org.
The Generators are a free community project. There is no account, sale, or subscription.
By accessing or using the Generators, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Generators.
1. About the Generators
The Generators are free, self-serve tools that build a signed Android app from configuration you provide in your browser. They include builders for kiosk launchers, web app wrappers, contact apps, document apps, and wallpaper apps. No account or sign-up is required.
You provide the details of the app you want, such as a URL, a name, an icon, and other settings. When you choose to build, we generate a signed app package for you to download, along with a one-time update code so you can rebuild an updated version later.
The Generators produce a deterministic app shell around the content or destination you supply. They do not host that content, and building an app does not make BAYTON its publisher, author, or distributor.
2. Acceptance and eligibility
By using the Generators you confirm that you have the authority to agree to these Terms, and that your use, and any app you build and distribute, will comply with these Terms and with all applicable laws.
The Generators are intended primarily for organisations managing their own Android devices and estates, but may be used by anyone for a lawful purpose in line with these Terms.
3. The apps you build
You are responsible for the apps you build with the Generators, for the content, destinations, contacts, documents, branding, and configuration you put into them, and for how you sign, publish, and distribute them.
You must have the right to use everything you include in an app, including any website, brand, trademark, logo, content, contacts, or documents. You must have any consents, licences, or permissions required, and you must comply with the requirements of any platform, store, or device management system through which you distribute or run the app, including Google Play, Android, and Android Enterprise.
The apps you build are yours. BAYTON does not claim ownership of them, and does not monitor, review, or take responsibility for what you build or where you deploy it.
4. Acceptable use
The Generators are provided in good faith for legitimate use. You must use them, and any app you build, only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not misuse the service, harm others, or put BAYTON, any platform, or any third party at risk.
5. Prohibited use
You must not use the Generators, and must not build, sign, or distribute an app using the Generators, to do, enable, or facilitate any of the following:
- Anything unlawful, or that delivers, promotes, or facilitates unlawful content or activity.
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, obscene, or other adult content, or any content that is inappropriate for a general audience.
- Any content or conduct that sexualises, endangers, or exploits children. This is not tolerated in any form and will be reported to the relevant authorities.
- Distributing malware, spyware, ransomware, or any app designed to deceive, defraud, phish, or harvest credentials or data without informed consent.
- Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, coercive control, or the covert monitoring of any person without lawful authority and appropriate notice.
- Hate speech, or content that incites or promotes violence, terrorism, discrimination, or self-harm.
- Infringing anyone's intellectual property, or wrapping a website, brand, trademark, or content you do not own or have permission to use.
- Impersonating any person or organisation, or misleading users about who publishes the app or what it does.
- Breaching Google Play, Android, Android Enterprise, device manufacturer, mobile network operator, or other applicable platform requirements where the app is distributed or run.
- Abusing the build service itself, including automated or bulk submission beyond normal use, or attempting to overload, probe, scan, reverse engineer, circumvent limits on, or gain unauthorised access to the Generators or the systems behind them.
- Breaching applicable sanctions, export controls, or trade restrictions.
6. Availability and changes
The Generators are provided free of charge and on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that they will be available, uninterrupted, or error free, and we give no uptime or service level commitment.
We may change, limit, suspend, or withdraw any part of the Generators, or the whole service, at any time and without notice. We may also apply reasonable limits on use to keep the service available to everyone.
7. Suspension and access blocking
We may refuse, delay, or remove any build, and may restrict, suspend, or block your access to the Generators, at our discretion and without notice, where we reasonably believe that these Terms have been breached, that the service is being abused, or that continued use may expose BAYTON, Google, any platform, any user, or any third party to legal, security, operational, or reputational risk. Where we believe use is unlawful, we may report it to the relevant authorities.
8. Intellectual property
BAYTON, or its licensors, own the Generators, the gen.bayton.org site, and the BAYTON name and branding. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you, and you may not use the BAYTON name or branding without our permission.
The Generators and the apps they produce include open-source components, which remain subject to their own licences. The app you build is yours, as set out in section 3.
9. Data and privacy
Your configuration is held in your browser until you choose to build. When you build, the details you submit, which may include a URL, an app name, an icon, other configuration, and, for a signed release build, a signing keystore you provide, are sent to our build service for the sole purpose of producing your app and its update code.
Do not submit personal data about other people, including contacts or documents, unless you have a lawful basis to do so and have provided any notices required. You are responsible for keeping your update codes, signing keystores, and passwords safe; if you lose them, you may be unable to update an app you have built.
When you build a web app, the address you enter is screened against Google Safe Browsing to help block obvious malware and phishing destinations. This screening is privacy-preserving: the address itself is not sent to Google - only short, truncated cryptographic hashes of it are checked - so Google does not receive the URL you are wrapping.
10. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Generators and the apps they produce are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for testing any app you build before you deploy or distribute it.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BAYTON will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of the Generators or any app you build, sign, or distribute, including any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of profit, or business interruption.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always published at this page, with the date last updated shown above. Your continued use of the Generators after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
